Is the upper part of a natural convection drying oven hotter than the lower part?

Yes. Since warm air is lighter and rises while cool air is heavier and sinks, a temperature gradient—higher at the top and lower at the bottom—typically exists inside natural convection ovens. Therefore, when loading samples, it is recommended to place those requiring higher processing temperatures on the upper shelves and temperature-sensitive items on the lower shelves.

Can natural convection drying ovens be used for constant-temperature aging tests requiring extremely high precision?

It is generally not recommended. Because natural convection lacks a fan for forced air circulation to ensure uniformity, the temperature consistency across the chamber is usually inferior to that of forced-air drying ovens (temperature variations may range from ±2°C to ±5°C). If strict temperature uniformity is required (e.g., within ±2°C), a forced-air drying oven is recommended.

Do natural convection ovens generate noise during operation?

Virtually none. Since there are no internal fan motors running—only heating elements at work—operation is extremely quiet, making them ideal for laboratories that require a quiet environment.
